ive Your Dream! | hgtv.comImportance of sharing your dreams ...
Most importantly, you need to realize that a dream built around the visions of both you and your loved one will be more meaningful in the long run, than a dream built solely on your vision alone.
Before you even begin to consider a designer or contractor, you both need to lay your cards on the table. The last thing you need is to be at odds with each other over certain details once the work has already commenced. As you can well imagine, such circumstances can soon spiral out of control, not to mention the potential for huge unnecessary expenses.
Putting your dreams on paper ...
So, you’re ready for that new look, or perhaps even that new house? Well, now is the time fo../media/r each of you to put your dreams on paper and while doing so, remember that this may well be the closest you’ll ever get to your ideal dream home. With pen in hand, write down absolutely everything you can think of that constitutes a dream home or home makeover. In the city or out in the country, single story or multi story, rustic or contemporary, and so the list goes on but remember, this is when you should both be putting forward as many ideas as you can think of.
Perhaps you’re only planning a dream bathroom but here again, the same advice applies. You should both be compiling your own individual lists as to what you consider to be, the perfect dream bathroom.
Negotiating your differences ...
Unfortunately, its time for your blissful state of dreaming to be disturbed because once your lists are complete, its time to step into the ring together and iron out all those differences. Whatever you do, avoid dragging your other half over the coals. Instead, pay attention and remain respectably open minded and remember, you’ll both need to make some concessions.
This is a good time to discuss all the possible reasons why you both like the things you have in common. By doing so, you may well find that you discover other points on which you only marginally disagree. With a minimum of effort, these minor differences can be cleared up and added to your list of common desires.
Coming to an agreement ...
Lastly, you’ll both have to sit together and compile another list of the points
over which you don’t agree. As you work through this list, discuss in detail,
all the pros and cons of each others home makeover
